MITIE has been awarded a multi service, multi site contract covering all of the Rolls-Royce manufacturing facilities in England and Scotland.
The agreement is long term and will be worth in excess of £20 million per annum.
MITIE will deliver the services using the specialist skills of its operating companies with a single layer of MITIE management.
When it is fully operational at the end of April 2003 it will include engineering maintenance, cleaning, catering, security, fabric maintenance, minor building works, materials handling, waste management and help desk.
Maintenance
Engineering maintenance involves the Planned Preventative Maintenance of all of the site infrastructure M&E services including 24/7 cover for reactive maintenance and emergency support.
The infrastructure M&E services include high and low voltage electrical distribution systems, compressed air distribution systems, steam and condensate return distribution systems, air conditioning, crane maintenance and all the other general site services associated with the manufacturing operations in the aerospace Industry.
MITIE’s integrated service teams will ensure that the associated mechanical and electrical plant and equipment is maintained in accordance with the contract Service Level Agreement which is measured against the highest industry standard Key Performance Indicators.
In addition to the maintenance of the M&E services, MITIE will also be responsible for the building fabric maintenance and minor building works which will be provided on both a planned and reactive basis.
Catering
Catering to the needs of more than 15,000 Rolls-Royce employees working in aeronautical design and manufacturing, the catering delivery will be branded ‘ingredients’, the internal operating brand launched in 2002.
The scope of services includes the provision of catering services to seven locations in the UK, including ten restaurants, four shops, vending, conferences, hospitality and VIP fine dining.
Cleaning
Cleaning will include the daily and periodic cleaning of all production areas, offices, catering and recreational facilities. Typical operations involve coolant management, oil exchange, waste management, stores & distribution and document shredding.
Security
Security includes the manned guarding on the sites, gatehouse duties, control room monitoring and control of the automatic entry control systems.
The security service also covers emergency services and integrated emergency response elements. Fire fighting and breathing apparatus training is given for holding response whilst waiting for fire fighters to arrive.
Chris Evans who is the account director for MITIE said, “ This contract will allow Rolls-Royce to benefit from the efficiencies that will come from our companies working closely together as one team. We will be multi-skilling our people so that our team of nearly 750 deliver a quality service to Rolls-Royce.”
MITIE will be working closely with Rolls-Royce to provide the best levels of services support to their facilities. The project will deliver year on year efficiencies and improvements in service to Rolls-Royce.
