Fluke Networks introduces its CopperPro copper loop tester. This integrates 12 test sets into one unit, so reducing learning curves and speeding testing:
Fluke Networks today announced a new copper loop analyser to perform subscriber loop troubleshooting, fault analysis and location, and line qualification. Designed to be the only loop testing device a technician will need in the field, the new 990DSL CopperPro copper loop tester combines 12 different test sets into an easy-to-use handheld form, empowering technicians with varying levels of experience to perform tasks from basic POTS to new DSL services immediately.
Improved efficiency through automated testing:
"This ease of use is more than convenient; it's critical to telephone companies hard-pressed to hire and retain expert technicians," said Ian Davis, Product Manager, Telecom OSP Solutions at Fluke Networks. "Because CopperPro's easy-to-learn programming enables technicians of all skill and experience levels to quickly perform complex tasks with a high degree of confidence, telecom service providers now can re-consider expensive training programs that may not have delivered long-term returns."
CopperPro is easy to use because it combines a toolbox approach with programmable AutoTests that run the sequenced tests, document the results and provide easy to interpret pass/fail results. Test functions are combined to help the user quickly pinpoint problems. Results are displayed graphically on a large, LCD display.
Easy to find root causes:
With CopperPro, users can identify and locate common physical cable faults, such as shorts, crosses, opens, and splits. CopperPro also makes it easy to find the root causes of transmission problems, like excessive noise or signal loss, and helps technicians locate and identify loop treatment devices like range extenders, network interface devices and maintenance termination units. Furthermore, CopperPro makes fast work of qualification for both POTS services like Caller ID, Automatic Number Identification and dial-up modems, as well as digital broadband services, like ADSL (DMT and CAP), T1, E1, DDS, ISDN, HDSL, and HDSL2. Plus, its unique ADSL AutoTest determines within seconds whether a pair can provide ADSL service, and even predicts upstream and downstream rates.
Faster ADSL deployment:
According to a Network Manager for a major U.S. ILEC, the ADSL AutoTest is one of the major benefits of CopperPro. "Telephone companies are experiencing an ever increasing demand for ADSL services, which makes it increasingly important not only to get the services up quickly, but to get them correct the first time. And, because these tests are done quickly and accurately, I can perform faster ADSL deployment without the worry of having to go back and re-condition the line just weeks after providing the service."
Scalable technology protects CopperPro investment:
CopperPro is built around a scalable platform that allows technicians to tailor the set's testing capability to their specific needs and add capability later - through hardware and software upgrades - as their needs change and as new technology emerges, protecting their equipment and training investment. The unit's basic applications test voltage, opens, shorts, balance, RFL, VF noise and loss. Basic configuration also provides for line monitoring and the detection of load coils.
