Power Quality Self-Assessment, Resilience, Reliability and Redundancy, Unbalance, and A Systems Approach to Earthing are the latest titles in a series of application notes forming an essential power quality manual entitled, the Power Quality Application Guide.
Published in parts, the Power Quality Application Guide is a unique reference source covering harmonics, resilience, voltage disturbances, earthing and EMC. It provides theoretical background, problem identification, measurement techniques and solutions.
Written for design engineers, facilities maintenance staff and contractors, the guide is produced in the UK by the Copper Development Association (CDA) as part of a pan-European education programme – the Leonardo Power Quality Initiative. This initiative is supported by both academia and industry and aims to address the problem of poor power quality in Europe, estimated to cost industry over £6 billion a year.
David Chapman, electrical programme manager, CDA, said, ‘The guide, which includes introductory as well as in depth material, is provided in bite size application notes covering background theory, practical advice on measurement and solutions and case studies.’ He continued, ‘Contractors will benefit from understanding the causes of power control problems, the associated measurement issues and the range of solutions available.’
