ESCA Services under new ownership

ESCA Services, the company that supplies temporary and quality labour to the electrical and mechanical sectors, has been bought by private investors, from founders and owners, the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) and the manufacturing union AMICUS.

ESCA Services was formed in 1987 by the ECA and in early 1998 the AEEU, now AMICUS, became an equal partner. It paved the way for the temporary employment of Joint Industry Board (JIB) graded electricians and so enabled companies to meet their short-term requirements with technically competent agency labour. Both the ECA and AMICUS will retain a seat on the ESCA board to provide support and assistance in the future development of the company.

Jack Luxton, finance director, ECA, commented, ‘The sale of ESCA Services reflects the maturity of labour agency markets and of the agency itself, which is now well established as a supplier of skilled JIB graded operatives. The ECA and AMICUS no longer need to be so closely involved.’

New owner, Doron Krips, said, ‘Although a close relationship with the ECA and AMICUS will be retained, the new independence of ESCA Services will allow us to further drive the business forward. We will build upon the positive working relationships that ESCA Services has developed within the industry and examine ways of further enhancing them.’ He concluded, ‘We are also fully committed to supporting industry initiatives aimed at improving training, technical competence and health and safety.’
